How to install your epoxy floor

Sweep the floor, then apply the Etch & Clean included in your kit. Bare concrete is too smooth and too alkaline for epoxy to grip - etching opens the surface to a fine sandpaper texture. Work in sections, scrub it in, rinse thoroughly and let the slab dry completely.

Fill any cracks, holes or pitting with our Crack & Patch repair kit and let it cure. A smooth, sound surface now means a smooth finish later.

Roll on the Primer first: it seals the concrete, stops air bubbles rising out of the slab, and dramatically improves how the colour coat bonds. Cut in the edges with a brush, roll the rest, and let it cure as directed.

Then the Coloured Base Coat. Mix Part A and Part B thoroughly (under-mixed epoxy will not cure) and work steadily once mixed:

• Cut in the edges with a brush.
• Roll in 1-2m square sections, keeping a wet edge.
• For flake floors, broadcast the flakes onto the wet epoxy as you go - throw them up and out so they land flat.
• Work back towards the door so you never paint yourself into a corner.

Once the base coat has cured, the Clear Coat seals everything in and adds the final layer of durability and gloss. On flake floors, lightly scrape and vacuum loose flakes first.
