Etch & Clean – Epoxy Surface Prep

Etch & Clean is the surface prep that makes your epoxy floor stick. It removes concrete laitance (the weak, powdery top layer) and opens up a fine surface profile so your garage floor epoxy bonds tightly to the slab. Skip this step and even the best coating can lift - get it right and your floor will last for years.

Bare concrete is too smooth and too alkaline for epoxy to grip properly. Etch & Clean acid-etches the surface to a texture like fine sandpaper, the ideal key for primer and base coat. It is the standard DIY alternative to mechanical grinding and an essential part of every floor job.

Coverage

• 500g makes 7.5L of solution and covers up to 20m²
• 1kg makes 15L of solution and covers up to 40m²

How to use

• Degrease and clean the floor first
• Apply the etch solution, scrub it in section by section, then rinse thoroughly
• Let the slab dry completely before priming
